Requirements for Mentors

•  Two-year commitment
•  Attend two new officials’ game, provide post-game feedback (written and/or verbal)
•  Officiate two games with new official, post-game feedback; send to new official and chairperson of mentor committee
•  End of season written evaluation of new official to chairperson of mentor committee
•  Expected communication:  at least once a week (by phone or email)

Suggestions for Mentors

•  Positive feedback first; improvements second
•  Videotape and critique
•  Don’t overwhelm; limit to a few items for improvement
•  Sit together at meetings
•  Attend new officials’ meetings; if held
•  Provide information about uniforms, paperwork, camps, meeting requirements to new officials
